This will be known to many people but not to many others, so I'm blogging about it:
The Python Wiki page linked above, describes multiple ways of reading the Usenet newsgroup comp.lang.python, which is also gatewayed bi-directionally with the python-list mailing list hosted at http://python.org.
Usenet newsreaders, email, Gmane.org and Google Groups are four of the ways described.
