The first-ever Emerging Languages Camp is going to be held alongside OSCON (the O'Reilly Open Source Convention) this year. I read about it on O'Reilly Radar, here. Some of the emerging languages that I was aware of the existence of, such as Clojure, F#, Io, Go and D (*), are represented; there are also many others that I did not know about. One thing is for sure - the amount of innovation in the open source world keeps growing :), and not just in the area of new programming languages, although those too.
