I downloaded and tried out Opera Mini on Android (2.2 / Froyo) and it seems quite a bit faster than the stock Android browser. I only tested it a little, and it may have various issues. But I was intrigued by the speed difference. I read on the site for the browser that it compresses web pages you want to download, on Opera's servers, before sending them to you. That may be why it is or seems faster.
