Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11 released

By Vasudev Ram

I had recently blogged, here ---

--- about trying out Opera Mini and that I found it seemed to be faster than the stock web browser on Android. Saw this related news today on The Register, UK:

Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11 debut:

Excerpt:
[
Opera has released new versions of both its mobile browsers, offering improved ...

Opera Mini 6 is available for J2ME, Android, BlackBerry, and Symbian/S60 phones. Opera Mobile 11 runs on Android and Symbian, and labs (test) releases are available for MeeGo, Maemo, and Windows 7, Microsoft's desktop OS.

Here is the news:

This confirms my earlier post ( http://jugad2.blogspot.com/2011/03/opera-mini-on-android-seems-quite.html  ) which reported that when you browse using Opera Mini, the web pages are first compressed on Opera's servers, thereby speeding up your browsing experience. The Register's post also says that Opera Mobile can do that compression too, but has an option access web servers directly as well. The two versions (Opera Mini 6 and Opera Mobile 11)  differ in the platforms they run on, and in that Opera Mobile uses the same rendering engine as the Opera desktop browser, among other things.
